MUMBAI: Mumbai-born Freddy Bharucha has been appointed as Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) first president of its North America personal care & beauty operations.
With this, Bharucha becomes the fifth Indian after Bala Purushothaman (CHRO) Shailesh Jejurikar (COO), Sundar Raman (CEO, fabric & home care), and Kirti Singh (chief analytics & insights officer) to join the global leadership of the company in recent years.
A company statement said Bharucha will also serve on the board for the `Personal Care Products Council’ (PCPC), an American trade association.
P&G beauty’s decision to create this new position stems from Bharucha’s proven track record of driving brand, business, and organisational growth, with a focus on tapping into emerging synergies across the fast-paced North American beauty market, while maintaining the independent operation of distinct categories.
A 21-year veteran of P&G, Bharucha has lived and worked across a range of global markets including Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, India-Middle East Africa, Greater China and Latin America. He has held leadership positions spanning multiple categories at P&G, including beauty, health, fabric and home care.
Bharucha is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta and Mumbai University.
